I had to wait on taxiway crossing traffic |
The tug continued under the wing and into the wall. There was no damage to the plane, or the wall for that matter, but my shoulder was really smarting. Nothing like a good whack to the acromioclavicular joint (Yep, looked it up).

We finished up and headed to our rides. I pulled the nose plugs and kicked out the chocks then climbed aboard 08Romeo. I made a nice climb out for the coast and crossed the Bay at six thousand five hundred. I made a last call for Millville then switched over to Dover approach. I was looking south along the beach and saw nothing but a cloud layer. Ocean City was reporting Minimum Visual Flight Rules (MVFR). That's not to bad but I fully understand how fast it can go to hell in a hand basket along the water. I decided to ask Dover for a pop up clearance into Ocean City.

I'm feel the itch to shoot an approach, too. It's been a while. Still waiting on that AI replacement, probably a month from now.
Acromioclavicular joint! Way to enhance your word power, Gary.
It's good that you did not try to meet us in PA. We did not fly to to Williamsport. The evening before (when I made the FB comment), I already knew that there were a bunch of NOTAMs for closed runways and taxiways, but it was clear that the airport was still open for landing. There was also a NOTAM about the east ramp being closed to transients, and that concerned me. That morning, I called the FBO to learn the practical implications of the ramp closure. Transients are being sent to the FBO, which is on the other side of 12-30 from the restaurant. Basically, if a crew car was available, the FBO would loan it to us to get to the other side of the airport. If not, it was suggested we call a cab or walk around the outside perimeter of the airport. The ramp has been closed since July (right after the last time I flew there, actually) and is expected to be closed until July 2018 according to the current NOTAM. The guy from the FBO confirmed that the ramp work was proceeding slowly.
So...we didn't go to Williamsport. We wound up going with Plan C that morning. Plan B is a story unto itself.
When Mary didn't feel good I decided on the no-go for IPT/AVP. I didn't even start to check TFR or NOTAM's. My interest is now peaked for the plan B details and the plan C flight.....I'll be looking forward to your blog post.
Well, shucks. I think I made the whole thing sound more interesting than it actually was...
